For the past 28 years, I have worked as an Instructional Assistant, as well as a liaison between the Indian Communities and Elko County School District, covering six elementary schools, one junior high, one middle school and five high schools. My duties included traveling to one of the high schools of 110 miles and conducting seminars on anger and stress management. I have also facilitated several Senior Round Table discussions on different coping strategies dealing with stress. As a counselor I deal with confidentiality on daily basis, fostering mutual respect between myself and the students.
I have held the positions of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of the Shoshone Welcome Committee and have been a member of the P.T.A. (Parent, Teacher Association). I am a sixteen year member of the National Indian Education Association. Currently I also sit on the Board of Poo-Hah-Bah and the Nanish Shontie Corporation. |
